The index consists of the 40 largest and most actively traded stocks on the Nordic exchanges. The limited number of constituents guarantees that all the underlying shares of the index have excellent liquidity, which results in an index that is highly suitable as underlying for derivatives products. The composition of the OMXN40 index is revised twice a year. The OMXN40 is a market weighted price index.
On December 28, 2001, the OMX Nordic 40 Index began with a base of 1000.00.
